program overview
The FED Development Program is for novice hockey players and the last stage of our introductory programs before moving on to our official Mite Hockey teams. It is NOT a learn-to-play program...please see our Learn to Play tab for further information. It is NOT a house development program...please see our Canton/Bavis Dog Development League tab for further information on that.
Players for our Fed Development Program will be selected as part of our annual March tryout process and be placed on one/two teams that will participate in the Fed Futures division as part of the Eastern Hockey Federation league. In the case of multiple teams, we will attempt to balance them based upon age, ability as well as hometowns. Not everyone is guaranteed a spot within this program as it needs to be the right fit. For those skaters who aren't ready for this full season-full ice commitment, we recommend our Dog Development Program instead.
The program runs from September - early March. Development teams will skate as a group three (3) days a week, twice during the week and once on Saturday mornings. They will play full-ice games on Saturday and/or Sunday against other EHF Fed Future programs throughout the season. This combination of three skates a week complemented by a full season game schedule provides plenty of ice time to support the growth and development of the individual player at the pre-Mite age level. **2018 may be accepted into the program but they are strongly encouraged to try out for our Mite Minor teams in both Canton and Bavis so they can continue playing with their birth year teams if possible.
If you are interested in this program please register in advance for tryouts. Since this is a full season commitment, no players will be able to be added once the season begins.
